On February 19th, a little boy wandered in to the Mirabito Convenience Store in Earlville, NY. The little boy was alone and appeared to be lost.
Donna Barley, who was on staff that evening, immediately became concerned upon noticing that the boy did not have an adult with him. After a brief conversation, the boy told Barley that he had run away from home.
Knowing that the boy needed to get home to his parents, but not wanting to scare him, Barley enlisted the help of another employee. Barley was able to contact Trudy Ruland, who then called the police and explained the situation.
While waiting for the police to come, Barley kept the boy occupied and gave him hot cocoa to drink. The police arrived at the Earlville store a short time later and were able to safely return the boy to his home and parents.
We are proud of Donna and Trudy for remaining calm and helping the boy get home safely. We’re also thankful to have employees who are so caring and who look out for those in their community. This is another example of how our people make energy different!
