Since 1927, Mirabito has been family owned and operated. Mirabito provides energy products for families and businesses throughout upstate New York, Western Massachusetts, and Connecticut.
Mirabito Energy Products offers a variety of products including heating oil, propane, natural gas, coal, gasoline, diesel fuels, and kerosene.
In addition to being an energy provider, Mirabito owns and operates 108 convenience stores throughout Central New York, making Mirabito a convenient stop for customers and one of the largest convenience store chains in Central New York.

History of Mirabito Energy Products
1926
James Mirabito, an Italian immigrant, starts a coal business known as James Mirabito Coal Dealer in Norwich, N.Y.
1927
The following year, 1927, the business was incorporated and this date is traditionally observed by the firm as the founding.
1940
James’ eldest son, Thomas, opens the second branch of the business in Sidney, N.Y., by purchasing H.M. Bloxham Coal and Feed Company on Clinton Street.
1943
James Mirabito signs a Distributor Agreement with Atlantic Richfield (ARCO) to sell home heating oil in the City of Norwich, Sidney, and the surrounding area.
1948
The company purchased a bulk oil terminal on Cartwright Avenue in Sidney, greatly increasing storage capacity. The company also became a Mobil Oil home heating oil distributor.
1952
Ownership of the company passed from James Mirabito to his four sons, Thomas, Rosario, Angelo, and Anthony. The company was incorporated as James Mirabito & Sons, Inc. The company headquarters was located in Sidney, NY.
1956
The company acquires F&S (Fuel & Supply) in Greene, NY.
1958
On March 13, 1958, James Mirabito passed away, having seen the successful transition of the company he had founded to the next generation.

That same year, the four brothers start an asphalt business, Chenango Asphalt Products.
1959
The company acquires Fred Crawer Fuel in Unadilla, NY.
1960
The company acquires Hutchinson Fuel Company in Bainbridge, NY.
1966
The company acquires Franklin Milling Company.
1968
The company purchases a 500 acre farm in Unadilla, NY and begins construction of the Golden Valley Sports Camp. The camp offered intensive training sports seminars, led by college coaches and well-known athletes for to up to 2,000 campers each summer.
1969
The company acquires Benedict Fuel Company in Unadilla, NY.
1971
The company sells the feed business it acquired in 1966
1972
The company acquires Pickwick Oil Company in Bainbridge, NY.
1982
Mirabito purchases their first convenience store in Oxford, N.Y., and selects the name Quickway Food Stores to be their retail moniker.
1983
A major acquisition for the company came in 1983 with the purchase of Savory Oil in Vestal, NY. Savory Oil included a Chevron Oil Company terminal with direct access by pipeline to the Chevron Refinery in New Jersey and a storage capacity of six million gallons. With this purchase, Mirabito’s wholesale growth and convenience store expansion are accelerated.
1984
Fire destroys the bulk oil plant on Cartwright Avenue in Sidney. Mirabito’s lost not only the storage facility, which was completely destroyed, but also a transport truck and four tank wagons. Ultimately, though, the fact that no lives were lost was cause for somber thankfulness.
1985
Mirabito builds a new bulk oil plant in the Sidney Industrial Park, a new office complex on Grand Street in Sidney, and purchases Norwich Oil Company.
1986
In 1986, the second generation sold the company to six members of the third generation, dubbed the “Pepsi Generation”: Thomas Mirabito, Sr.’s sons Thomas, Jr. and Joseph; Rosario Mirabito’s sons Vincent and Ross; Angelo Mirabito’s son, Michael.

The company purchases Mountain Oil in Oneonta, N.Y.
1988
Mirabito purchases Oneonta Oil & Fuel and Jiffy Stop convenience stores. The acquisition doubles the number of convenience stores owned by the company.
1990
Mirabito holds the first annual Mirabito golf tournament at the Genegantslet Golf Club in Greene, NY. Proceeds from the tournament benefited the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
1991
The company sells Golden Valley Sports Camp and the Chenango Asphalt plant.
1992
Mirabito establishes the Propane Division of Mirabito Fuel Group.
1992
Mirabito purchases Onondaga Oil & Fuel in Syracuse, N.Y.
1994
The company sells the Vestal, N.Y., terminal to CITGO Petroleum.
1996
Mirabito establishes Miragas, Inc., to sell natural gas and electricity.

The company also acquires Corse’s Oil in Susquehanna, PA.
1998
The company acquires Palmer Oil in Walton, N.Y and Korchak Oil in Binghamton, NY.
1999
Mirabito merges with Mang Insurance and establishes Granite Capital Holdings, Inc. (The names “Mirabito” and “Mang” are retained for marketing purposes.)
1999
Also, the company acquires Bullis Oil in Roscoe, N.Y.
2000
Mirabito changes the company name Miragas, Inc. to Mirabito Gas & Electric, Inc.
2000
Granite Capital Holdings acquires Riddell Brothers Milk Hauling Company and Old Road Truck Repair in Oneonta, N.Y., as well as Fletcher Oil in Delhi, N.Y.
2001
Mirabito establishes a partnership with Angus Energy Partners, LLC, to provide customized supply and hedging services to petroleum marketers throughout the U.S.

Also, Mirabito enters into a marketing alliance with ValueCentric Marketing Group (VCMG) to develop a loyalty and rewards program for its customers.

The year 2002 also marks the companies 75th Anniversary in the energy business.

The company opens its first Subway franchise inside its Oxford, NY convenience store.
2003
On May 12th the company launches the Mirabito – Quickway REWARDS PLUS program. Employees get new uniforms and name tags, and loyal customers get many great rewards from Quickway, Mirabito, and their Merchant Partners.

The company acquires Bray Energy in Utica, NY.
2006
June of 2006 saw massive flooding throughout many portions of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The Susquehanna River in Sidney flooded much of the town, including Main Street. As the area faced months of cleanup and repair, the company faced another effect of the flood: its own offices had been flooded and the computer systems destroyed. In part because of this disaster, the company made the decision to relocate its main offices to the Metrocenter in Binghamton, NY.

Also in 2006, the company acquires Oneida Lake Energy Products, Inc. and Convenience Express Stores in areas North of Syracuse.
The company also acquires Rounds Fuel in Greene, NY.

The company acquires Wagner Century Oil in Youngsville, NY.

In November the parent company changes its name from Granite Capital Holdings, Inc. to Mirabito Holding, Inc.

The company acquires Westcott Oil Company in Schenectady, NY.

The company sponsors first-ever AHL Outdoor Hockey Game “The Mirabito Outdoor Classic” held at the NYS Fair Grounds in Syracuse, NY.

The company also begins re-branding its Quickway Food Stores and Convenience Express Stores to Mirabito Convenience Stores.

The company acquires Egelston Propane in Amsterdam, NY.

In May, Mirabito Natural Gas, LLC (an energy service company, or ESCO) began supplying gas to its first customer, Otsego County NYARC.

Mirabito partners with Corning Natural Gas to form Leatherstocking Gas Company, LLC and Leatherstocking Pipeline Company, LLC.

On April 5th the Pennsylvania PUC granted Mirabito Natural Gas, LLC a natural gas supplier license to serve all customer classes at UGI Penn Natural Gas, Inc., UGI Central Penn Gas, Inc., and Valley Energy, Inc.

In January Mirabito acquires Agar Fuel Oil in Great Barrington, MA.

In April Mirabito acquires Manley’s Mighty Marts 17 convenience stores located in the Southern Tier of New York.

In June Mirabito acquires Hastings-Fisher Oil Company in Yorkville, NY.

In August Mirabito acquires Crown Oil Company, Inc. in Bristol, CT.

In August, Mirabito acquires 27 convenience stores in New York and 4 convenience stores in Pennsylvania along with certain real estate from Drake Petroleum, Inc., a subsidiary of Global Partners L.P., resulting in Mirabito surpassing the 100 store mark with 106 convenience store operations.

In October, Mirabito purchases the operations of W. L. Taylor & Son, Inc. in Cooperstown, NY. This purchase includes 7 “Taylor Mini-Mart” convenience stores and the addition of Taylor Home Heating, a home energy branch in Cooperstown.

In November, Mirabito acquires the operations of Kelly Fuels in Bennington, VT.

In March, Mirabito acquires the operations of Polsinello Fuels in Rensselaer, NY.

Mirabito acquires the Vermont business of Trackside Terminal Oil Company, LLC in Burlington, VT in February.

On October 11, 2023, Mirbaito Convenience Stores opened the renovated store as a Café & Eatery Express in South New Berlin.

In February, Mirabito Convenience Stores reopens our Parish, NY location as a travel center, featuring Dunkin’ and Subway restaurants, Mirabito food offerings, lounge seating, a tech charging area, and multiple fuel options for the local community and travelers.
